IELTS Exam Pattern

Reading
The exam includes three long passages extracted from books, journals, and newspapers, with each passage followed by a set of questions. There are a total of 40 questions, and the duration for this section is 60 minutes.

Listening
The exam includes 4 audio recordings, each followed by 10 questions. There are a total of 40 questions, and the duration for this section is 30 minutes.

Writing
The exam consists of Task 1, which involves Report writing (150 words), and Task 2, which requires Essay writing (250 words). The total duration for both tasks is 60 minutes.

Speaking
The speaking test consists of three parts:
Part 1 is an introduction, Part 2 involves the applicant’s speech on an assigned topic, and Part 3 is a detailed topic discussion between the test taker and a certified IELTS examiner. The number of questions asked depends on the duration of the discussion, and the total duration of the speaking test is between 11 to 14 minutes.
