PTE Exam Pattern
Reading
The PTE reading section lasts 30 minutes and includes tasks like Reading and Writing Fill in the Blanks, Multiple Choice, Multiple Answer (with negative marking), and Re-order Paragraphs. You will also complete Reading Fill in the Blanks and Multiple Choice, Single Answer tasks. These tasks assess your reading comprehension and ability to select or arrange information accurately.
Listening
The PTE listening section involves carefully listening to audio/video clips played only once. Tasks include Summarize Spoken Text, Multiple Choice, Fill in the Blanks, and Write from Dictation among others, where you listen to recordings and answer questions in various formats. The section tests your ability to understand and process spoken information effectively.
Writing
The PTE writing section focuses on assessing your ability to write coherently and accurately. Lasting 54-67 minutes, it includes Summarize Written Text, where you read a 300-word passage and summarize it in one sentence, and an Essay task, where you write an essay of 200-300 words on a given topic.
Speaking
The PTE speaking section lasts 54-67 minutes and includes tasks like Read Aloud, Repeat Sentence, Describe Image, Re-tell Lecture, and Answer Short Question. Each task assesses your ability to speak clearly and respond effectively. The section evaluates your spoken English through various formats, from reading aloud to summarizing lectures.
